So Every week Itunes sends me an email with the new music for the week and a featured celebrity playlist. Was listening to Drew Barrymore's little list and thought what songs would make my list? While far less people will give a crap about my list, I decided to play it like a celebrity. Here are 25 ditties(most of which are available on itunes) that make up the matter referred to as, Rachel:
Don't panic/Coldplay - Reminds me that the world is an OK place to be.
Good Fortune/PJ Harvey - Guaranteed to get me pulled over on the highway as I jam out at high speeds.
The Seed (2.0)/The Roots & Cody Chestnutt - Makes even a wallflower want to dance.
I'll be around/The Spinners - guaranteed to have you snapping or tapping something. Good vibes period.
One Trick Pony/Nelly Furtado - Takes me back to her live concert where I scored first row seats.
Black Steel/Tricky - Will rock your socks off and have you marching in the streets for a cause.
Show Me How To Live/Audioslave - "Mail in my head from my creator, you gave me a life now show me how to live" speaks loud...even to an Atheist.
Sleep on It/Angela McCluskey - Connects me back to the years I spent sick in bed.
Gypsy/Fleetwood Mac - What voice Stevie has, gives me Goosebumps every time. This tune makes me want to spin in circles while wearing black velvet platform heels.
Oh Sherrie/Steve Perry - Reminds me of my Mother in the 80s, listening to this tune with all the windows open.
Like a Virgin/Madonna - takes me straight back to my childhood. My mother used to tape hours of videos for me to watch, "The video with the Lion, mom."
Love Shack/The B-52's - Reminds me of when I used to Karaoke in my bedroom and dream of being a redhead(minus the beehive).
Fighter/Christina Aguilera - Everyone has to have an anthem and this is mine. Motivates me in moments when I'd rather find a corner.
Cannonball/Damien Rice - Makes me reminisce about life and brings up old feelings like an ocean tide.
Easy Way To Cry/David Gray - Makes me want to rock myself to sleep..."It's alright now, it's alright now... it's alright."
Disco/Howie day - Conjures a vision in my mind; like a old home video from the 60's with the scratch lines and the sun canceling out the couple dancing in it.
Hey Jupiter(The Dakota Ver.)/Tori Amos - Always my favorite Tori song. If my soul were to cry I would want it to sound like this song.
Sun In My Mouth/Björk - This song makes me imagine I am in Monet's "Poppies" strolling in the tall flowers seaside.
Sacrifice/Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke - Proof that words can mean nothing, I have no idea what this man is singing and I never want to know.
Nothing at All/Rob Dougan - Love the back beat on this one...beautiful and tragic at the same time.
We Don't Need Another Hero(Thunderdome)/Tina Turner - Keeps me in tune with the modern world. Every decade this song has a new meaning to me. This decade it makes me think of Katrina..."Out of the ruins, Out from the wreckage, Can't make the same mistake this time."
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood/Joe Cocker - I enjoy the soul in this song, love the keys too.
Svefn-G-Englar/Sigur Rós - Makes the world stop turning and Instantly puts me in a trance. Love the screeching guitar!
Elegy/Carina Round - Makes me want to smear my make up and tear up a room. Love the sexiness of her voice in this song and the fantastic guitar.
Hope I've turned you onto some new tunes.
